Anyone who knows me knows I'm all about radiant healthy skin. My goal is to look like a glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut. Just kidding. Sort of. Even when I was studying makeup at college I always preferred to focus on the skin and lips rather than the eyes. There's just something about glowy makeup that instantly gets me excited and today I thought I would share some of my top picks for achieving a flawless glowing base.
The trick to achieving dewy, radiant skin is making sure you start with the basics. It's no good slapping on a £30 highlighter when the rest of your makeup looks dry and patchy. I like to exfoliate my skin with the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask at least once a week to remove dead skin and get rid of any texture. I'm also a big advocate of layering serums and moisturisers to make sure my skin stays plump and hydrated so that my foundation applies better. The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream and Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum are some of my favourites!
Moving onto the makeup. I very rarely start my routine without a primer. Depending on your skin type you may want to go in with something mattifying or pore minimising but I love using the Primark P.S Primer Water to add another layer of hydration. I've recently rediscovered the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Gel Cream and I'm so glad I did! It's a thinner consistency and has slightly less coverage than my other bb/cc creams but I think that's why I love it so much! It just has a much more natural finish on the skin and adds such a gorgeous sheen. I then move on to highlighter and I tend to opt for creams and liquids over powders as I can really build up the intensity without it looking powdery or obvious. My everyday pick is usually the Glossier Haloscope in Quartz but if I want something super high-shine I'll opt for my MAC Strobe Cream or the Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter in Starlight.
After that, I use the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer and KIKO Milano Radiant Fusion Baked Powder to cover any blemishes and set everything into place. Powder is a must for me as my t-zone gets fairly oily throughout the day and the last thing I want is my makeup turning into a greasy mess! To finish off my base I just apply a tiny bit of blush to add a hint of colour. At the moment I'm loving the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk and Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop.
